PFCU Credit Union Honors Veterans Day with Flag Retirement Initiative
Mid-Michigan - In observance of Veterans Day, PFCU Credit Union proudly honors the service and sacrifice of our nation’s military personnel. As part of this recognition, PFCU is committed to upholding the dignity of one of our most cherished national symbols, the American flag.
Throughout 2025, the Credit Union has collected and donated more than 222 worn American flags for proper retirement, in partnership with local VFWs and American Legion posts. This initiative reflects PFCU’s ongoing dedication to community support and honoring veterans.
“When a flag becomes frayed, torn, or otherwise unfit for display, it should be retired with respect,” said John Knickerbocker, Community Engagement Coordinator. “We’re proud to support the proper disposal of these flags through formal ceremonies conducted by our local veteran groups.”
PFCU encourages the public to participate in this effort. Flag collection boxes are available at all PFCU branch locations, where individuals can drop off worn flags. These flags are then delivered to local veteran organizations for honorable retirement.
