Open House
FENTON, MICHIGAN: Glossophobia, or a fear of public speaking, is believed to affect up to 75% of the population. Symptoms include shaking, sweating, butterflies in the stomach, dry mouth, and rapid heartbeats. Some people have even told surveyors that they fear speaking in front of an audience more than they fear death! Stop being part of the Silent Majority and “Face Your Fears!” at the Fenton Toastmasters’ Open House on Friday, September 13. The public is invited to hear End-of-Life practitioner Cathy Tyrna talk about the positive outcomes of facing our greatest fears. Local author Wesley A. Whittaker will be asking “What do YOU Believe?” as he presents an updated way of looking at how your mind works and how you can take control of your life. Coffee and morning snacks will be served. Toastmasters is more than just a speaking club. The organization has become a source for learning those leadership skills that give you the professional edge and help you become who you were born to be. Come start your weekend with a fresh perspective as you discover one of the fastest growing personal and professional development organizations in mid-Michigan. Fenton Area Toastmasters meets every Friday morning - except holidays and Fenton High School snow days – in the Training Room of the Fenton Fire Department, 205 E Caroline Street in Fenton. Parking and entrance are on the east side of the building. Meetings start promptly at 7:45am and run for about an hour. Visitors are always welcome.
