● Corinne Edwards, Ed.D. – Board Chair
● DeAndra Larkin – Board Vice Chair
● Marsha Strozier-Wesley – Treasurer
● Christopher Flores – Secretary

“These leaders bring a powerful blend of experience, commitment, and heart to Hurley,” said Melany Gavulic, President/CEO. “Their guidance will help ensure we continue delivering exceptional care and advancing health for the people of Flint and Genesee County.”

Corinne Edwards, Ed.D. – Board Chair
Dr. Corinne Edwards was appointed to the Hurley Board of Managers in October 2020 to a term that expires in April 2025 and will now serve as Board Chair for 2025–2026. Dr. Edwards is the Director of the Office of Educational Supports with the Michigan Department of Education. A 40-plus year educator, she has served in multiple Pre-K–12 public school districts across Michigan as a teacher, counselor, principal, and district-level executive leader. She has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Baker College of Flint and Saginaw Valley State University. Dr. Edwards earned her Doctor of Education from Wayne State University in 2008, a Master of Arts from Eastern Michigan University in 1989, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan in 1985. She is a State of Michigan Licensed Professional
Counselor and a graduate of the Michigan Hospital Association Excellence in Governance Fellowship (2021–2022). Actively engaged in both professional and community organizations, Dr. Edwards is involved with the NAACP, Pierians Incorporated – Flint Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. – Zeta Beta Omega (Flint) Chapter, and serves on The Ivy House nonprofit Board of Directors. She is also a member of the historic Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Flint.

DeAndra Larkin – Board Vice Chair
DeAndra Larkin will continue her leadership on the Board by serving as Vice Chair of the Hurley Board of Managers. A trusted and compassionate leader, her career reflects a deep commitment to advancing the community through collaboration, advocacy, and service. Larkin currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the YWCA of Greater Flint, an empowerment organization dedicated to supporting women, girls, and families, and providing comprehensive domestic and sexual assault services. Under her leadership, the YWCA offers programs that promote economic opportunity, leadership development, and community well-being through advocacy and education. Her professional background spans human services, nonprofit leadership, higher education, economic development, and business, including prior leadership roles with Mott Community College and the Flint & Genesee Group. A proud alumna of Central Michigan University, Larkin holds both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from CMU. She extends her service to several boards, including the Community Foundation of Greater Flint and the Zonta Club of Flint. Larkin’s connection to Hurley Medical Center runs deep—her mother and grandmother both devoted their careers to Hurley. Today, she continues that legacy, leading with heart, integrity, and a steadfast belief in the power of service to create lasting change. She resides in Flint with her husband and their family.

Marsha Strozier-Wesley – Treasurer
Marsha Strozier-Wesley, a Hurley retiree, will serve as Treasurer of the Hurley Board of Managers. She brings four decades of institutional knowledge and leadership experience to her role. Strozier-Wesley served in Hurley’s Department of Pharmacy for 40 years, beginning as a staff pharmacist before being promoted to Pharmacy Supervisor and eventually Assistant Director of Pharmacy Operations. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan–Flint.
Her professional contributions include service on the Michigan Health & Hospital Association’s Pharmacy Advisory Group and membership on the Flint City Charter Review Commission, which was responsible for the successful passage of Flint City Charter revisions enacted in January 2018. Strozier-Wesley credits her years of employment at Hurley as the driving force behind her interest in board service. Hurley’s mission of Clinical Excellence, Service to People, and its sustained market leadership in Genesee County resonate strongly with her commitment to patient-centered care. “As a level 1 trauma center, Hurley provides some of the most complex care in the county, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay,” she has noted. “That sets Hurley apart and reflects what the founder envisioned over 100 years ago.” She views her board role as an “awesome opportunity to serve” and remains committed to supporting Hurley’s mission and vision in advancing health care in the Flint community and beyond for the next century.

Christopher Flores – Secretary
Christopher Flores, a long-standing member of the Hurley Board of Managers since 1990, will serve as Secretary for the 2025–2026 term. Flores is the Legislative and Community Liaison for Genesee Health Systems and previously served as District Director for U.S. Representative Daniel Kildee. His earlier work in health care includes founding Community Recovery Services and serving as Vice President of Health Integration for Sacred Heart Rehabilitation. His educational background includes a Paralegal Certificate from Adelphi University (1977) and extensive certifications and training in substance use disorders (since 1978). Flores has robust training in board governance, conflict mediation, labor relations, and strategic planning, and he completed the Michigan Hospital Association’s Excellence in Governance Fellowship in 2009.
